What we are about
St John’s is a church family centred in Castlereagh, East Belfast. We’ve designed this website to introduce ourselves,
to invite you to find out more or to come along some time to check us out.
St John’s is full of ordinary people – young and old, business people, teachers, OAPs, stay–at–home parents,
musicians, all sorts! We do our best to be welcoming to everyone who comes along, whether it’s for a Sunday service, one of our many mid–week activities or for a special occasion like a Christmas service, a wedding or funeral.
At St John’s our relationship with God, with each other and with those around us, is what really matters. We are not perfect – as a church or as individuals – but we are on a journey of faith and friendship and we invite you to come along and join us!
St John’s is a Church of Ireland (part of the wider Anglican church across the world) and its full name is St John the Evangelist, Orangefield.
Orangefield is the area (called a parish) where we are located, which the Church of Ireland has given us responsibility for, and so we seek to meet the diversity of needs of all those living in our locality – whatever their belief or background.
The wider grouping of churches we are part of is called the Diocese of Down and Dromore.
